The Robins is a distortion pedal designed to evoke the feeling of listening to your favorite heavy 90's altrock records. That’s it.  The pedal was Inspired by one in particular (the name and color are a hint).  

Dave Jordan explains:
 
"I’ve made it no secret that the main inspiration behind designing the Robins is I wanted a pedal where playing felt like listening to the band Hum. There are other inspirations in there too, but that’s the main one. Hearing You’d Prefer an Astronaut for the first time was formative for me, as a guitar player and songwriter certainly but also it made me become a tone chaser. I know this is true for many of us that are of a certain age. So I designed this pedal, not as a tribute to or copy of any specific piece of gear, but merely based purely on knowing *that sound*, I named it after a song on that album, and as I was planning out my upcoming releases later last year I thought, “You’d Prefer an Astronaut came out in 1995, it’d be a lot of fun if I could line up the release of the pedal with the anniversary of the record.” And here we are, April 11th. Anyway, I’m really excited and glad you guys are too."
 
**Don't be mistaken that this is a one trick pony of a pedal. It is actually super versatile.
