The Black Hole is a Classic 70’s Phase pedal. A phaser creates a series of peaks and troughs in the frequency spectrum resulting in a sweeping effect.

Only a single speed control is required to nail that vintage MXR phase 90 sound.

Van Halen popularized the sound in the late 70’s and it remains so today.
